Experience a district in transition - a guided tour through the MedienHafen with an ascent to the Rhine Tower.

Just how dynamically Düsseldorf is developing is particularly evident in the MedienHafen. Until the 1980s, the area was dominated by warehouses - today the district is in a state of permanent upheaval. Discover spectacular architectural icons on the tour: The quirky buildings by American Frank O. Gehry are just as characteristic of the MedienHafen today as the open forms of the Landtag.

The highlight of the tour is the ascent to the Rhine Tower. Enjoy an impressive view of the Rhine metropolis from 168 meters with explanations and stories about Düsseldorf from our tour guides.

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 65 minutes ... including some waiting time for the trains you will take since being late is no option.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 towards Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" and get off at "D-Völkinger Straße S" (8 stops)
  • Take the bus 726 in direction "D-Maxplatz" and get off at "D-Rheinturm" (6 stops)
  • Continue on "Hammer Straße" in the direction of the bus
  • Proceed straight ahead with the street being named "Stromstraße" for in all some 250m
  • After "Stromstraße" made a left curve, the Rhine Tower is there on the left-hand side

Travel time is approx. 35 minutes
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 in the direction "Düsseldorf Flughafen" up to the station "D-Völkinger Straße S"
  • Then proceed as indicated above
  • ... or find some more direct route
