A different approach to city history: in Düsseldorf it becomes obvious along the Rhine.

On a stroll on the beautiful promenade along the Rhine, which links the Old Town and "Medienhafen", you'll hear tales about the river and the city's 700-year history during which it developed from a fishing village into the modern capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Travel time is about 60 minutes ... including some potential waiting time for the trains you will take.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 in the direction of Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" up to the station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (4 stops)
  • Take the local subway U73 in direction "D-Uni Ost/Botanischer Gartenf"
    Or take the local subway U75 in direction "Neuss Hauptbahnhof"
    Or take the local subway U79 in direction "Duisburg Meiderich Bf"
  • Get off at the station "Heinrich-Heine-Allee" (3 stops)
  • After leaving the train station walk to the street crossing
  • Head into the "Finger Straße" - the direction is like a left turn relative to the train direction
  • After some 350m shortly before you reach an open place the tourist information is on the left-hand side
