Markus Gyger

"Dance", they say, "is a vertical expression of a horizontal desire."

Are you ready to "waltz" through the complexities of proper dance posture? In this workshop, we'll dive into mastering the elegant stance of the Viennese Waltz. I promise this will be an "upright touching" experience.

In this Workshop you will learn how to maintain an upright yet relaxed posture, lead and follow effectively, and glide effortlessly across the dance floor. This session is tailored for both beginners eager to learn the basics and advanced dancers looking to refine their technique.

In dancing Viennese Walz, each move is a debate between gravity and grace, making every stance a testament to poise and connection. Don’t miss this chance to turn the theoretical into the theatrical.

Join us on the dance floor!

Short vita

Holding a PhD in Biophysics, working as communication trainer and now giving a workshop on a standard dance? Just typical for a Mensa member, isn't it?

Markus began his dance journey in 1993, spending several years in dance school as a teenager and later competing in standard dance tournaments. Nowadays, he primarily enjoys salsa and bachata. For Markus, the essence of dancing boils down to one simple rule: it must be fun – but please, for everyone involved.

Notes

Please accept that we charge a bit for this course in order to pay for the rent of the room of the dance school. Thank you.

Important notes

You need to bring shoes suitable for ballroom dance with you - best is to bring real dancing shoes. The course is in a dancing school on good parquet so that regular street shoes are not ok.

Dancing starts at 10:15 to give to time to change shoes etc.

Hint for booking

When booking please indicate if you dance as follower or as leader since the plan is that you dance in pairs.

If you want to e.g. join this as a couple, then book two slots and then set the options to 0 for the first (default) one and 1 for the two "I dance as follower" and "I rather lead" and put the membership number or email address of the second person into the field "I book for me and...".
