The Visiodrom in Wuppertal is located in the city's old gas boiler and is known for its extensive and diverse exhibitions on famous artists.

A tour lasts 90 minutes and takes you through the building with its special architecture, through the Vincent van Gogh exhibition and onto the skywalk with a 360-degree view over Wuppertal.

Before and after that we recommend you combine the visit of the Visiodrom with some other event in Wuppertal and a nice ride with the "Wuppertaler Schwebebahn" which is like a flying tram (nearest station is Oberbarmen Bahnhof).

Notes

One part of the exhibition and the skywalk with observation deck aren't accessible for wheelchairs.

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 105 minutes
... including some potential waiting time for the trains you will take and the time locally in Wuppertal.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 to Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (5 stops)
  • Take the local train RE4 towards "Dortmund Hbf"
    Or the local train RE13 towards "Hamm/Wesfalen Hbf"
    Or the local train S8 towards "Wuppertal Oberbarmen"
  • Get off at "Wuppertal Oberbarmen"
  • Continue as detailed below

Directions (from Wuppertal Oberbarmen)

Travel time is some 15 minutes
  • Take the exit "Wuppertal Oberbarmen"
  • At exit turn right to walk across the bridge "Ritthauser Brücke"
  • At the end, cross the street at the traffic light and turn left onto "Waldeckstraße"
  • Take second street to the left: "Mohrenstraße"
  • The Visidrom is on the left side.

Hint: You want to visit several events in Solingen and/or Wuppertal so that you have to spend over an hour to get to that region.
Please note that the train runs some 5 minutes between "Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof" - "Wuppertal Barmen" - "Wuppertal Oberbarmen"
