The city of Düsseldorf has set the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2035. The new natural gas power plant, Block “Fortuna,” at the Lausward site marks a significant milestone on this path.

With its environmentally friendly electricity and heat production based on natural gas and its high flexibility, the power plant is an ideal complement to the increasingly important renewable energy sources.

Important notes

During the tour, safety helmets must be worn. People with a fear of heights should be aware that part of the path is made of metal grates. Sturdy footwear is mandatory.

The Power Plant of Stadtwerke Düsseldorf requires a list of participants with first and last name. If you book this event, you agree that we pass this data on to Stadtwerke Düsseldorf

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 90 minutes ... including some potential waiting time for the trains you will take
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 in the direction Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" up to the station "Düsseldorf-Hamm" (9 stops)
  • Take the bus 732 in the direction or and up to "D-Lausward"
  • Continue on "An der Lausward" that curves smoothly to the left and then sharp to the right
  • Just follow that street for some 650m and the destination is on the left-hand side
