In response to the challenges and crises of the twentieth century, artists embarked on a journey to question the world and explore new horizons. While art provided havens and spaces for reflection, it also functioned as both a mirror and an engine for social change.

The K20 Collection’s newly redesigned presentation weaves together the diverse histories of abstraction with contemporary issues.

Notes

If you book and take part in both "K20: Exhibition Queer Modernism" and "K20: Collection of Art - Guided Tour", you do not need an extra ticket for the Collection since it's included in the entry to the Queer Modernism Exhibition.

In this case, please choose the "I already have a ticket"- option AFTER seats for both events have been allocated to you and if you plan to take part in both events.


Important notes

The guided tour starts 10 minutes after the advertised starting time of the event. This is to give you time to get organized before the event, e.g. put your bags/jackets in the lockers, go to the bathroom, …

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 50 minutes ... including some waiting time for the trains you will take since being late is no option.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 to Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (5 stops)
  • Take the subway U70 in the direction "Krefeld Rheinstraße"
    Or the subway U75 in the direction "Neuss Hauptbahnhof"
    Or the subway U76 in the direction "Krefeld Rheinstraße" or "D-Lörick"
    Or the subway U77 in the direction "D-Am Seestern"
    Or the subway U78 in the direction "D-Merkur Spiel-Arena"
    Or the subway U79 in the direction "Duisburg Meiderich Bf" or "D-Wittlaer" or "Duisburg Hbf"
  • Get off at the station "D-Heinrich-Heine-Allee" (3 stops)
  • Underground, follow the sign "Ausgang Altstadt Bolkerstraße Rheinbahn Kundencenter K20" and take the escalator up and exit the station
  • Go straight ahead into "Bolkerstraße"
  • After only 20 meters turn the next right into "Neustraße"
  • Follow "Neustraße" for some 150 m until you get to an open space "Grabbenplatz"
  • The entrance to "K20" is across the space/piazza.
