As a participative museum, the city museum of Düsseldorf (simply called Stadtmuseum) is your platform for the design of urban processes. Starting from the important European collections of prehistory and early history, you can not only become observers, but also discussants, researchers and designers of your own city.

The team of the Stadtmuseum, the Friends of the Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf (registered association), the Association of German Architects, BDA Düsseldorf, the Keyworkers and other partners present a rich program connected to the collections of art, applied arts, archaeology, photography and fashion.

Notes

The tour is barrier-free. As of May, the elevator is broken, but according to current information it should be operational in October.

Some of the other city tours we offer include a free entry into the City Museum on the same day. If you have booked one of those tours (s. description) on the SAME date, please choose the option "I already have a ticket" AFTER seats have been allocated to you for both events and you are taking part in both.

Painting and writing materials may not be used within the museum.

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 70 minutes ... including some waiting time for the trains you will take since being late is no option.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 towards Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" and get off at "Wehrhahn" (4 stops)
  • Take the local subway U71 in direction "D-Rath S"
    Or the local subway U73 in direction "D-Uni Ost/Botanischer Garten"
    Ok the local subway U79 in direction "D-Wittlaer"
  • Get off at "D-Benrather Straße U" (4 stops)
  • Turn left relative to the train ride into "Benrather Straße"
  • After some 250m turn half left into "Orangeriestraße"
  • Another 100m is a right turn and the street name changes int "Bäckerstraße"
  • Next crossing turn left into "Berger Allee"
  • The destination is on the left-hand side after some 50 m

Directions (from Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof)

Travel time is approx. 30 minutes
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 in the direction "Düsseldorf Flughafen" up to the station "Wehrhahn"
  • Then proceed as indicated above
  • ... or find some more direct route
