The top attraction in Cologne!

A guided tour of Underground Cologne and a visit to the 150-metre-long Roman sewer in the heart of the vibrant city of Cologne is one of the highlights of this popular tour. One of the oldest cities north of the Alps was born on the Rhine and is still a vibrant settlement today - the CCAA or better known today as Cologne.

We take you underground in Cologne and show you the founding fathers of the former Roman COLONIA under the present-day city hall of Cologne. The official residence of the once most powerful man north of the Alps and legate of the Roman emperors in Rome, the so-called PRAETOR, reveals its secrets to us on this popular guided tour of Cologne.

The PRAETORIUM, the former magnificent governor's palace, the centre of power of the Roman Empire on the Rhine awaits you. This is where the representative of the Caesars ruled and administered the strategically important province of GERMANIA INFERIOR with the legions and powers under his command. The visit to the Roman sewer CLOAKA MAXIMA is unique in the whole of Germany.

Following the museum visit, our underground tour takes you to the former Jewish quarter of the city of Cologne (archaeological zone).

Travel time is about 90 minutes
... including some potential waiting time for the trains you will take and the time locally in Cologne.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Take the Sky Train in the Airport from "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal C" to "Düsseldorf Flughafen Bahnhof" (the railway station)
  • Walk to the railway train station "Düsseldorf Flughafen"
  • Take the regional train RE1 or RE5 to Cologne central station "Köln Hauptbahnhof"
    Note that the aforementioned regional trains pass through the Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof"

Directions (from Köln Hauptbahnhof)

Travel time is some 10 minutes
  • Leave Cologne central station using the exit to "Bahnhofsvorplatz" (on the side with platform 1)
  • The Cologne Cathedral is slightly to the left
  • Head for the right side of the cathedral
  • There you will see a big finial flower ("Kreuzblume") where you meet your guide at 10:00h
    Depending on your arrival time you'll have the time to take a look into the cathedral before the tour starts

Hint: You want to visit several events in Cologne so that you have to spend a bit over an hour to get to Cologne only once.
