We start our walk at "Behrensbau" on the banks of the rhine. Learn more about the architecture of the buildings „Mannesmann-Hochhaus“, the state parliament, "Villa Horion" and KIT (the name is derived from the German phrase "Kunst im Tunnel" translated "art in a tunnel", an exhibition space located right under Düsseldorf’s Rhine embankment).

Please note: You will only visit the buildings from the outside.

Notes

The tour takes place outside along the banks of the rhine and is suitable for wheelchairs to a limited extent
... and you want to dress according to the weather.

Important notes

The walk ends near the Rhine Tower... so perhaps you want to take a look-and-see:

There is a viewing platform (two public lifts at a speed 4m/s) at a height of 168 meters. The entrance fee is 12,50€ (to be paid by you there), but the view from the top is great, so take the opportunity and visit Düsseldorf's landmark.

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 70 minutes ... including some waiting time for the trains you will take since being late is no option.
  • Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
  • Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
  • Take the local train S1 or S11 to Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (5 stops)
  • Take the tram 708 in the direction "D-Polizeipräsidium"
    Or the tram 709 in the direction "Neus Theodor-Heuss-Platz"
  • Leave the tram at the station "D-Landtag/Kniebrücke" (5 stops)
  • Relative to the tram's direction go back some meters and to the left to get towards the river and out from under the bridge
  • Cross the open space and follow the path, keep the buildings to your right, the river to your left and the bridge behind you
  • After some 300 meters the destination is on your right hand side near the bus stop "Mannesmannufer"

  • So, proceed from there as detailed above
