Workshop Tour at DB Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Düsseldorf

We are planning an exciting and informative tour of the Deutsche Bahn vehicle maintenance facility of DB Regio AG region NRW in Düsseldorf. In addition to the main workshop, we will also visit adjacent workshop areas and the associated infrastructure.

A particular highlight —if possible— will be the inspection of one or more vehicles across all three working levels. This will provide a comprehensive insight into the various maintenance and servicing operations carried out on rail vehicles.

The tour will conclude with a visit to the hall housing the underfloor wheel lathe, where wheelset profiles are precisely machined. This glimpse into the highly specialized technology of wheelset maintenance promises to be a fascinating end to our visit.

We look forward to an educational and hands-on experience in the maintenance of modern rail vehicles.

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

• Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
• Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
• Take the local train S1 or S11 to Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (5 stops)
• Take the local subway U75 in direction "D-Vennhauser Allee"
  Or the local subway U76 in direction "D-Holthausen"
  Or the local subway U79 in direction "D-Uni Ost/Botanischer Garten"
• Get off at the station "D-Provinzialplatz" (5 stops)
• Continue in the direction of travel up to the traffic lights, and cross over to the boardwalk to your left.
• Cross "Harffstraße" and for some 50 meters continue on the street you came on up to the bus stop
• Hop on bus 723 in direction "D-Plange Mühle" or "D-Eller Mitte" and and get off at "D-Ohligser Straße"
• Walk back some 50 meters and turn right to reach the destination
• If bus 723 is not at hand in a timely manner then from the bus stop go back to the crossing and turn right into "Harffstraße"
• After some 700 meters and thus shortly after "Wipperfürther Straße" branches off to the right, follow the signs to "DB Regio" to the left to reach the destination
