Workshop Tour at DB Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Düsseldorf

We are planning an exciting and informative tour of the Deutsche Bahn vehicle maintenance facility of DB Regio AG region NRW in Düsseldorf. In addition to the main workshop, we will also visit adjacent workshop areas and the associated infrastructure.

A particular highlight —if possible— will be the inspection of one or more vehicles across all three working levels. This will provide a comprehensive insight into the various maintenance and servicing operations carried out on rail vehicles.

The tour will conclude with a visit to the hall housing the underfloor wheel lathe, where wheelset profiles are precisely machined. This glimpse into the highly specialized technology of wheelset maintenance promises to be a fascinating end to our visit.

We look forward to an educational and hands-on experience in the maintenance of modern rail vehicles.

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

• Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
• Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
• Take the local train S1 or S11 to Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (5 stops)
• Take the local subway U76 in direction "D-Holthausen"
  Or the local subway U79 in direction "D-Uni Ost/Botanischer Garten"
• Get off at the station "D-Provinzialplatz" (5 stops)
• Continue on straight ahead on the street you came on, at the crossing switch to the other side and continue to the bus stop there
• Hop on bus 723 in direction "D-Eller Mitte" and and get off at "D-Ohligser Straße"
• Walk back a little and turn right to reach the destination
• If bus 723 is not at hand in a timely manner then instead when you hit the crossing instead of switching to the oder side, turn left into "Harfstraße"
• After some 750m and thus shortly after "Wipperführter Straße" is on the right, turn left to reach the destination
