Munich Olympic Park

The Olympic Park was built between 1967 and 1972 to host the XX Summer Olympic Games. It was constructed on the former Oberwiesenfeld site, which included Munich's largest rubble heap from World War II. The architectural and landscape design of the Olympic Park is based on the guiding principle of cheerful, light, and informal Olympic Games. In 2018, the city council endorsed the application for the Olympic Park to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2023, the park was included on Germany's tentative list.

During the architectural tour of the park, participants will learn more about the significance, history, and creation of the park, as well as the application for UNESCO World Heritage status.

Anmerkungen

The ascent up the mountain may not be possible for wheelchair users. Furthermore, not every location included in the tour may be accessible.

Hinweise

2.5-hour guided tour through the park. Comfortable shoes are recommended. The climb up the Olympic hill can be strenuous.
Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather.
