Old Main Synagogue Munich, built 1884-1887, demolished June 9th 1938

This guided tour offers insights into the multifaceted lives of Munich's Jews throughout the centuries.

From the city's founding in the 12th century to the present day, there have been few periods when Jews could live undisturbed and in peace in Munich. Nevertheless, they have shaped and enriched the city's life in many ways. The tour traces the facets of a history that was both fruitful and tragic. It certainly would also include mentions of diverse prominent figures such as Abraham de Municha, "the beautiful Nanni" as well as Albert Einstein, Kurt Eisner, and Shalom Ben-Chorin.
