Unique in Europe: the "Via Ferrata" over Germany’s highest railway bridge makes it possible to experience industrial culture up close.
A guided tour takes you over the steel arch of the Müngsten Bridge all the way up to the highest point, where the ascent is rewarded with a spectacular view.

Travel time is 2:30 hours
- Take the foot bridge in front of Maritim Hotel towards the airport terminal C
- Head for the local transport train station in the basement of terminal C "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal (S)"
- Take the local train S1 or S11 to Düsseldorf central station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof" (5 stops)
- Take the local train RE13 (only once an hour!) in the direction of "Hamm (Westf.) Hbf" (3 stops)
- Exit the train at the station "Barmen, Wuppertal"
- Take the local train S7 in the direction of "Solingen Hbf" (7 stops)
- Leave the train at the station "Schaberg Bf, Solingen"
- Now comes a nice walk through the forest which google suggests takes you some 20 minutes, so we plan with 40 knowing that a group of Mensans is slower...
- Exit the station and then follow the street "Schaberg" to the right
- After some 400 meters turn right into the forest path
- After some 100 meters make a shark left turn, keep right after some 200 meters and follow the path down to the bus station.
- Turn right onto "Müngstener Brückenweg"
- After some 500 m the goal is on the right-hand side

Hint: You want to visit several events in Solingen and/or Wuppertal so that you have to spend over an hour to get to that region.
