The city of Düsseldorf has set the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2035. The new natural gas power plant, Block “Fortuna,” at the Lausward site marks a significant milestone on this path.

With its environmentally friendly electricity and heat production based on natural gas and its high flexibility, the power plant is an ideal complement to the increasingly important renewable energy sources.

Important notes

During the tour, safety helmets must be worn. People with a fear of heights should be aware that part of the path is made of metal grates. Sturdy footwear is mandatory.

The Power Plant of Stadtwerke Düsseldorf requires a list of participants with first and last name. If you book this event, you agree that we pass this data on to Stadtwerke Düsseldorf

Directions (from IBD Hotel)

Travel time is about 90 minutes ... including some potential waiting time for the trains you will take
  • Leave the Maritim Hotel through the main entrance on the ground floor next to the reception
  • Turn left and walk past the staircase tower of "Parking 8" towards the airport building and enter it
  • You are now on the arrivals level - follow the signs for "S-Bahn S11/Local trains"
  • Just in front of McDonald’s, take the moving walkway down to the station
  • Take the local train S11 in direction of Düsseldort central Station "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof (Hbf)" up to "Düsseldorf-Hamm" (9 stops)
    The S11 to "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof (Hbf)" departs from platforms 10 and 11
  • Take the bus 732 in the direction of "D-Lausward"
  • Get off at the final stop "D-Lausward"
  • The entrance to "Kraftwerk Lausward" is right next to the bus stop
