Priorities
We urge you: Please read this page in full – this can help avoiding unhappiness. Please do not blame us if you don't get what you wish due to setting the priorities poorly (which did happen do some others in the past since they did not read this page and made wrong assumptions).
Purpose of the Priorities
Purpose of the priorities is to let you indicate for overlapping events which one you clearly prefer to increase your chance of getting the preferred one.
If you want to e.g. join in a company tour but are happy to visit a presentation to fill that time slot if you don't get a seat for the company tour, you want to set a lower priority for the presentation.
If you do not book any colliding events there is no need to change the priorities – the default is the highest priority (two stars) to ensure you have no disadvantage.
Two Stars – One Star – No Star
Two stars are the
highest priority and the default. This priority should be set for most events you wish to get so that you chances are maximised.
On star is the
medium priority. Please set this only if an event is a gap filler – please read the chapter about overlapping events below.
No star is the
lowest priority. This one is only useful for support events like "I care to support with the check-in" etc. to ensure that you're not asked to work while having a nice event.
Hint: Reduce the priority of a booking only when booking two overlapping events and you want to indicate which one is clearly your favourite.
Enter Priorities
In this example the priority of the presentation has been reduced to one star so that the company tour will be prioritised during the seat allocation.
You could certainly just book the company tour but if all book this way there is a risk that the organisation committee cancels the presentation since no one indicated interest in it. Booking the presentation with lower priority has absolutely no impact on your chances for getting a seat in the high-priority company tour.
On Offer Several Times
Quite a few events are offered several times – feel free to reserve them all during the wishing phase to increase your chances to get a slot.
In case of a potentially highly wanted event our
hint is to leave the priority high (two starts) for all dates.
Reason is that probably many will set a high priority for them so that wishes with a reduced priority will have (close to) no chance since in the first round of seat allocation only high priority reservations are taken into account.
Overlapping Events like Dine Arounds
If several dine arounds are on offer you might be tempted to set your preferred choice to high priority, and all others to medium – you can do so but at a risk so please rethink that idea.
Other guests have other preferences or tastes and might book the Dine Arounds that are less appealing for you with high priority and with that will have priority for those.
This for such cases our
recommendation is to rather set the priority high for these overlapping dine arounds or other similar overlapping events.
Check-In etc.
You can offer to support the organisation committee during the event at the check-in and perhaps other places by booking the respective event – thanks!
We suggest booking these events with a lone star or even none so that any event you're interested in will be prioritised when the seats are allocated by the algorithm.
